Beauty every day

I had a screening call with a recruiter today (it’s not going anywhere — they very unfortunately do not sponsor), and while I was preparing for the call, I stumbled across one of their values, which is something I’d forgotten for a very long time:

Make it beautiful.

I’ve forgotten that at the beginning of my journey, at the start of my career break, one of my intentions was to find moments of beauty — beauty in the every day and in everything. How could I realize and see the beauty around me?

So sharing some moments of beauty that I’ve come upon recently, reminding myself that despite the ups and downs, the surprises that aren’t delights, I can still find moments of beauty.

Vibrant poppies outside the grocery store, signaling the coming start of spring. One of the things I miss most about having my own place (and the matching discretionary income) is treating myself to fresh flowers. There’s something wonderful and indulgent about a bouquet.

My new running shoes! Much needed (there are holes in my old ones) and perfectly matched to my bright, bold, and colorful presence.

This stunning and beautifully drawn map of New York, my original home. I don’t remember what book it was in (I’m pretty sure “New York” was somewhere in the title), but I kinda would buy the book just for this map.

If you know me at all, you’ll know my love of cards (and sending them to loved ones). I was particularly captivated by the artwork here — the colors, the movement, the emotion captured by the artists.
